The Answers You Actually Need
Senior photos shouldn’t feel overwhelming. Here are the questions parents and seniors ask me the most so you feel confident, prepared, and excited going into your session.
FAQ
When should we book senior photos?
Earlier is always easier especially if you want your first-choice dates and plenty of time before yearbook or graduation deadlines. A lot of families schedule around those school submission dates, so the earlier you’re on the calendar, the less “last minute panic” you’ll feel.
What if we’re already late in the year?
You’re not the first and you won’t be the last. If we’re close to a deadline, I’ll help you choose a plan that gets you what you need (yearbook photo, grad announcements, party images) without cutting it too close.

Are there outfits or patterns I should avoid?
If you want the most timeless look, avoid super busy patterns and know that large logos/text can pull attention away from your face. That said—rules can be broken if it’s your vibe. We’ll just choose a location/background that works with it.

Can I bring sports stuff / hobbies / my pet?
YES. Bring the things that tell your story—uniforms, instruments, books, Jeep, whatever is you. Those details make your session feel personal (and your parents will love looking back on it).

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. If you need to split things up, just ask and we’ll make it simple.

Do you help with outfits?

Yes. I’ll guide you on what photographs well, what goes together, and how to build looks that feel confident. You won’t be guessing.
I hate my smile. Help.

You’re not alone. I’ll guide you into expressions that feel real, and we’ll do a mix of smiling + more relaxed shots so you’re not stuck in one look.
What should I wear?

Wear outfits that feel like you—and bring a few options so we can create variety. Most senior photographers recommend multiple outfits (often around 3+ depending on session length), and I agree because it makes your gallery feel way more “you” and less one-note. We also have a client closet of 200+ pieces for you to borrow from.
How do we officially reserve a spot?
Once you inquire, we’ll pick your date, handle the paperwork, and lock everything in. After that, you’ll get the prep info you need so you feel ready.

What if I’m awkward in photos?

Most seniors say this. You don’t need to know how to pose—that’s my job. I’ll coach you the whole time (hands, posture, angles, what to do with your face… all of it) and we’ll keep it moving so it feels natural.

Where do sessions take place?

We’ll choose locations based on your vibe—urban, fields, bosque, studio, mountains, etc. If you want a specific look, tell me and I’ll match it.

Can a parent come?

Yes. Parents are welcome, and I’ll also help create space so the senior can relax and not feel like they’re being watched the whole time.

What should I bring?

I will curate you a check list but heres the typical things seniors bring to their sessions
Outfits + accessories/shoes for each look
Water + a snack (yes, it matters)
Props that represent you (sports, instruments, books, etc.)
A hairbrush, oil-blotting sheets/powder, and lip gloss if you wear it
When will we get the photos back?
Turnaround varies by photographer and season, but a common expectation in the senior-photo world is around a 2–4 week window for galleries (sometimes faster, sometimes longer during peak seasons). I’ll always communicate your timeline clearly so you’re not left wondering.
What if the weather is bad?

If we get gross weather, we’ll adjust—either pivot locations or reschedule. No stress.
The summer is monsoon season in Albuquerque. Please note this time frame has the most weather reschedules but is typically the most flexible for seniors.
How do we make sure this doesn’t become one more thing on my plate?
That’s literally why I built this as a full-service experience. I’ll guide the plan, the outfits, the locations, the timeline, and what to do with the photos after—so you don’t have to manage all the details.

Can siblings or family be included?
Yes! For all full senior session clients, you can add a 15-minute family add-on. It’s the perfect way for mom to get updated family photos, and we schedule it at the very end of the senior session so your senior still gets the spotlight the entire time.

How do we choose our favorites?
You’ll have a guided way to choose favorites (this is where parents feel relieved). Many studios use an ordering/reveal process so you’re not left drowning in decisions.

What if my senior is not excited about this?
Also normal. I keep it relaxed, I don’t make it cringey, and I’ll guide them in a way that feels natural. By the end, most seniors are shocked that it was actually fun.

Digital files vs prints… do we need both?
Digitals are great for sharing, but prints are what you’ll still have years from now. A lot of families end up printing because otherwise the photos just sit in a folder and get forgotten. (If you’ve ever said “I swear I’m going to print those someday”… this is your sign.)
